the cilik side table complements relax-furniture in general and the sedan and jengki chair in particular. not only can you place your favorite magazines and beverages next to you, but you may also lift the table top and use it as a tray – hence the nickname trayble. and to get the most comfortable setting: put the tray aside, lean back on your relax chair and rest your feet on the cilik’s base.
cilik (javanese) = small
the cilik side table is inspired by the traditional side tables that complemented a set of relax chairs. some tables had little extras, like a small drawer, a notch for an ash tray or other useful additions.
the exotic and functional shapes of the cilik are derived from the old javanese alphabet hanacaraka, which is also the inspiration for the details of the sedan and jengki chair.
the cilik – by singgih s. kartono – excites with the triangular composition of the legs, which appear to be lifting or presenting the tray that is lying on top.
the cilik embodies the essence of the sedan and jengki chairs‘ design language and therefore perfectly complements them.
